Special Guest Speaker of the Month

Bob Turner, W6RHK, is our August, 2026 speaker.

With over four decades of experience in emergency preparedness, public safety, and critical incident response, I currently serve as a Field Investigator for the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), where I apply investigative rigor to the anaysis of unexplained aerial phenomena. My professional background includes serving as Section Manager for the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) overseeing emergency communications and supporting amateur radio operators across four Southern California counties.

Throughout my career, I’ve hesld key roles in government, education, and nonprofit sectors -including Director of Risk & Emergency Management for Alvord Unified School District and Chair of the Riverside County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD). I’m a long-standing Education Sector Advisor with InfraGard and have contributed to national disater resilience efforts as an Infrastructure Liaison Officer for Infragard.

As the founder of California Preparedness Resource, LLC, I continue to provide consultation and training in communications, active violence response, and emergency management. My work is driven by a passion for community safety, informed preparedness, and advancing the public’s understanding of unconventional phenomena through structured investigation.

FIELD DAY at GEORGE & KRIS JACOB, La Habra.

Join Us for Field Day 2026!

We would like to invite everyone to participate in Field Day 2026, a great opportunity to enjoy amateur radio operations, fellowship, and hands-on experience in a fun outdoor setting.

Date: Saturday, June 27, 2026
Location: Home of George & Kris Jacob

1901 W. El Portal Dr. La Habra, CA 90631
Field Day Operating Hours: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Setup Volunteers Needed

We will be setting up two operating stations—one in the driveway and one in the backyard. The setup is straightforward and easy to accomplish by following instructions.

Setup Time: 9:30 AM

Your help with setup would be greatly appreciated and will help ensure a successful event.

Operating Schedule

Each station will require two operators:

  • Radio Operator – Makes contacts on the air.
  • Scribe/Logger – Records contacts using the computer logging program.

Operating shifts will be divided into four segments:

  • 11:00 – 13:00
  • 13:00 – 15:00
  • 15:00 – 17:00
  • 17:00 – 19:00

If you would like to work more than one shift, please let me know when you sign up.

Teardown

Immediately following the conclusion of Field Day at 7:00 PM, the teardown crew will begin dismantling and storing the equipment. Volunteers for teardown are welcome and appreciated.

Important Information

In accordance with Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL) Field Day rules:

  • No smoking is permitted during the event.
  • No alcoholic beverages may be consumed during the event.

Kris and I will provide beverages and snacks throughout the day. You are also welcome to bring a favorite snack or dish to share.
